Interactive Metronome
A new computer-based assessment and training tool for motor rhythmicity (timing), planning and sequencing. This program helps children (and adults) who have various problems in “primary motor control, language and speech problems, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, pervasive developmental challenges, cognitive deficits, social and communicative difficulties”. The individual must complete fifteen, one hour sessions, over a five week period. Therapy regimen utilizes thirteen sequential motor exercises that involve the “tapping” of each limb, individually and together in different combinations. The exercises are used as fundamental catalysts, which help the child learn how to maintain smooth fully regulated control of each motor sequence, ignore unrelated external stimuli, and preempt interruptive internal thoughts.
