Both programs address mild decoding issues. The
individual learns to map sounds to symbols in a systematic and reliable way,
teaching the English written language as a phonetic code. This means that the
child is taught that a symbol or sound picture represents each sound in a word.
These programs make “readers” out of non-readers, “good readers” out of average
readers, and “great readers” out of good readers.
